2014 | Cammeraygal Country | Northbridge
The N house is a renovation and extension of an existing single-storey dwelling on a deep, north-facing site with expansive valley views. The original home was constructed towards the northern end of the block, with the garage and pedestrian access located at the southern street side. A large, “park-like” open space, designed by Secret Gardens, spans between the two; however, the existing house turned instead to a pool area to the north, leaving the potential connection to the expansive southern garden unexploited. Relocating the bedrooms to a new first floor addition allowed for a transparent ground level, with bifold glass doors folding away to seamlessly connect the two gardens through the internal living spaces. Designed for a growing family of three children, the ground level also incorporates a new rumpus pavilion. Retractable external blinds provide privacy and sun control to the cedar-clad bedroom extension. Providing plenty of amenity on a quiet, secluded site, the N house aims to accommodate a vibrant family life within a private garden retreat.
